Superfood loaded sweet potato 🍠, this gives me all the feels - loaded with B vitamins for brain health (#needed), complex carbohydrates, plant strong protein (hemp seeds, and almond butter), and beyond yummy. Full recipe below 😎
1 baked sweet potato
1/2 sliced banana
1 tsp hemp seeds
1 tsp raw cacao nibs
2 tbsp @justins almond butter
2 tbsp @paleonola granola
1/4 tsp maple syrup
Sprinkle sweet potato with sea salt, load with all other ingredients. I mix the almond butter with a little bit of maple syrup so it drizzles better.
Can we talk about fat? Not the good kind, like in this avocado but fat as the bad F word. The kind we feel. The word we use to hate on ourselves. Unless you've owned the word fat in a super empowering way (who are you? And can you come and talk to me?) then you've used the F word to make yourself feel terrible.
I've had a few bad F days. I'm human and more than humanity I'm confronted by my own shit everyday because this is my profession, I help women heal their bodies, embrace whole food, and heal their relationship with themselves. This doesn't mean I don't have bad days. I do.
It ain't easy being a wellness professional with an unconventional "wellness" body. It. Ain't. Easy. I don't talk about this much, I'm a bit of a private person in that way, but I know these words need air, they need space.
My F cycle started on Friday in spin class, my bike was next to the mirror and I was riding next to 3 super fit women. I hated on myself through the whole class and got the worst numbers I've ever had in a spin class. I felt awful, deflated, sad. So damn sad.
Today I went back to spin and decided to just love on myself, belief in myself, pretend to have faith even when I didn't. Know what happened? I fucking crushed it! I pulled out numbers I haven't seen in over a year, I pushed so hard I was love, right there on that bike. (Thank you @iamicaniwillido) I cried so hard at the end of class I had to hide my face in a towel and then lock myself in the bathroom to just let it out.
All this to say that love will win every time. All the negative thoughts and the negative words that we spew on our bodies, it's a sickness, it hurts us. It also happens, so forgive yourself and move on.

I was asked in an interview years ago what my one naughty food love was and I confidently answered mayonnaise.
Now you will believe when I tell you this totally began, mayo free, chickpea salad collard wrap is my new favorite lunch. I don't fool around with creamy salads, they HAVE to taste delicious. This one uses only avocado and lemon juice. It shouldn't work. It flys in the face of mayonnaise reason, but it does work and you have to try it.

I made this recipe, a Ricotta Flatbread with Roasted Rhubarb, as total comfort food and then found out that rhubarb is an excellent food for hormonal health as it can help to modify estrogen metabolism, and is used therapeutically in Peri-menopause.
